Bowl

This is my latest creation ... and will be for a while as the wheel is completely torn down again! Trying to correct the wobble. Happy throwing :)

  1. Laura,

How did the wobble correction turn out?
Thank you for the excellent photos of your Pottery Maker wheel. We just picked one up at a flea market without a motor and your photos helped us learn what is needed to make it work.
We need new belts but we cleaned and repacked the grease cups.
Now we are looking for a motor.
Your photo show some distance between the wheel and where you sit. Are you resting your arms on pads or something or just leaning over?

  2. Hello Jerry!

Well, the wobble is all but gone after the tear-down. It is up and running and works very good. A vise, mallet, hammer, ruler, level and other tools were used to get the wobble out...We also put all new grease in our grease cups, too.

I have made a lot more pieces...I need to get some pics up. My adult children have also been coming over and making their own creations. It is really a family affair!

The seat seems far away, but really it isn't. I am able to be right over my work when I am throwing. There was an actual kit when the wheels were sold for the seat and platform...I found a copy of the plans online and it is exact to what I have. We also took the entire platform apart and everything has been snugged up.

I will see if I can find it again and share it with you.

Since I bought this wheel we have also aquired the gem maker...it is basically the same setup but came with lots more parts, grinding wheels and other stuff...we hope to build a work station for it as well. It has a slightly different motor, but there were different options for the motors. It came with all the manuals, bill of sale, letter from the company and other literature...it's pretty cool.

They are both great little machines - they just don't make stuff like this anymore :)

    Best wishes,

    Laura
